Calm is a simple meditation app that can greatly improve your mood, focus, mindfulness and awareness. Plus it’s free to try and well worth the time spent using it.
What worked for me
In my case, I was never a big meditation kind of guy. However, at one point I went through a very stressful period in my life. At the time, my commute to work involved about forty minutes walking along a river. The stress from my job was cluttering up my mind and making it hard to get through the day. It was distracting. So as I walked, I started thinking to myself how I wanted to develop better focus.
So I started focussing on what I could hear for one minutes. Then I focussed just on what I could smell. After that I went through each sense and as I did, I found focus and calm. The experience of developing my own kind of meditation spurred me on to find more resources.
There are little things you can do each day that have a profound effect on your well-being, your mental focus, your life. Taking a few minutes a day to meditate, not pray or do some silly mumbo jumbo, but to just clear your mind and focus your thoughts. It can be a game changer.
For adults as well as children the act of mindfulness is an invaluable experience. It is often drowned out in the noise of our day-to-day lives. For teachers, you may find this app is a great way to start your students’ days and get them in a calm, focussed mindset ready to tackle the tasks ahead. It has helped me to clear my mind of stress and worry and has helped me be more productive, focussed and growth-mindset oriented.

NONE of the app, book or product recommendations on My English Images are paid for. They are all sites or apps I actually use and enjoy. So, if you have an app you want to recommend, get in touch. Actually, I don’t always use all the apps and sites that I find on a daily basis. But I like exploring and finding out what’s available. And of course I love sharing with all of you.
