Invisibilia (Latin for invisible things) is about the invisible forces that control human behavior such as ideas, beliefs, assumptions and emotions. Co-hosted by Lulu Miller, Hanna Rosin and Alix Spiegel, Invisibilia interweaves narrative storytelling with scientific research. And it will ultimately make you see your own life differently.
This is an incredible Podcast I’ve been listening to over the past year. Being a teacher often means trying to understand people’s motivators and moods. It also means needing to step back and check our own biases and opinions and put them aside for the benefit of the people in the room, i.e. the students.
Of course that’s not always easy to do. After all, we each carry with us various biases and conditioned responses we may or may not be aware of. And of course, so do our students and coworkers. Being aware of these thoughts and feelings is part of being an adult. Plus exploring them, is just plain fun.
The podcast explores many of the amazing things at work in our bodies and minds. All these affect the way we feel, think, and act. In my case, not being a psychologist or having a degree in it I find this a simple, clear, and truly entertaining exploration of what makes us human. After all, that’s what we all have in common.
